More from San Jose San Jose, with a million people, is far larger than San Francisco, and has much more parking. Yet it is routinely ignored, even by its own television station. Efforts to revitalize the mundane downtown have faltered due to the local police curfew that kicks everyone out by 11:00pm. And yet, it still has its charms, and new high-rise residential towers planned may finally put San Jose on the urban lifestyle map.
The city has a small but high quality contemporary art museum that, due to endowment, is free of charge to visitors.

The building consists of a modern part and an old-fashioned facade.

Also prominent in downtown, the Catholic cathedral, recently renovated, and so heavily used the last few times I've dropped by I haven't been able to get in and take a picture of the gorgeous renovated ceiling I've read so much about in the local papers.

Across from the church, the sky reflects off the buildings. This exact view is a good way to watch planes land at San Jose airport, because the flight path scrapes right through downtown.

Yesterday, I posted a picture of the inside of the Tech Museum. The outside is one of the more noticeable buildings in town.

Inside the Tech is something I will never, ever do.

A few blocks away, the relatively new San Jose Rep, the professional theater company, shows off an average November temperature (that's 73 degrees, for those of you in climate-challenged parts of the country).
